This Thing…

This thing, we call life. It’s always making us run. We’re always trying to get to somewhere; trying to get to that place where we want to be. Many of us don’t even know what that place is...

What are you searching for? Happiness? Love? ❀ A career? Searching for a ‘path’ that’s “right” for you? but how do you know that the path you’re looking for is supposed to be “right” for you?

That’s the thing. We don’t. We plan for tomorrow, not knowing what the future actually has in store for us. We’re too hard on ourselves. We get angry when things don’t go our way. We get upset when our plans fail. We blame others when something in our life goes wrong…

You didn’t get the job you wanted, so there’s probably something wrong in you. You thought you’d be settled down by now, a great career, husband, kids and a house. It didn’t happen. You revised day and night for a certain exam but you still failed. You probably didn’t revise hard enough.

Your friend is suffering from depression, you have no idea how to help them – and that’s your fault. You’re not married yet and the people around you; are asking questions, raising eyebrows and you ask yourself, “is there something wrong with me?”

There is nothing wrong with you. You are exactly, where you’re supposed to be. It’s ok if things didn’t go to plan – there will always be something better in store for you. Trust me, when I tell you that. You can’t see the good in something right now, but sooner or later you’ll realise and it’ll all be clear.

The fact is that:

We’re all in a race. Trying to out-do eachother. We’re always running, running towards something or running away from another thing. Some of us are not happy and others are laughing because of anothers destruction. We’re not happy with ourselves. And that is exactly why, we carry on running. </3

In all honesty, one thing I have learnt is that living in the moment is SO IMPORTANT. When was the last time you sat down and thought “you know what, I’m happy. Right now in this moment, I’m happy.” When was the last time you looked around you and properly saw the faces of your loved ones.

When did you tell your friends that you love them. Family, friends, love – it’s all a blessing and every day you get to live those blessings again and again. The person who broke your heart, the job you didn’t get, the exam you failed.

There’s a reason for it all. Tell yourself, that you are exactly where you’re supposed to be. You’re in the right place. You have so many reasons to be happy.

And if this post of mine doesn’t help you in your struggle:

I saw a video on Facebook where two people {for example, a daughter and a mother} looked into each others eyes for more than 2minutes and they cried. Tears of happiness. It was beautiful.

Get a loved one and stare into each other’s eyes for 5 minutes. Don’t lose the eye contact. Try it!

  1. ah so true, loved this post. came at the right time. the trouble starts when people close to you start questioning your life’s actions if they don’t happen on a so-called timeline.

  2. Asfa this is truly remarkable. These are essential thoughts each individual should ponder upon, not only for their own spiritual/physical benefit, but also for those around them. If you are well, then others will be too, and vice-versa. Thank you so much for this blog, its made my day that’s for sure. We all need to abide by lessons such as these, and make the community and world a better place.
